Veterans Oversight and Event Planning Committee - The first meeting of a permanent committee to oversee the Veterans Monument and to plan annual events at the monument is scheduled for Saturday, September 9 at 3:00 p.m. at the Town Hall. Residents who wish to work with this group are encouraged to attend. You do not have to be a veteran of military service to participate in this activity.

Local Artists on Display - During the month of September, Riverdale Park artists will be featured in a display at Riversdale. Paintings in oil, acrylics and pastels along with photographic works will be exhibited in various rooms of the mansion.

Babysitting Co-op - Parents interested in becoming part of a babysitting co-op are invited to call Lori Childs at 301-277-3357. By joining a co-op you can get a morning or afternoon for shopping or appointments while your infant or toddler gets a chance to know other children.

Riverdale Park Day Vendor Applications - Town organizations or non-profits are invited to apply for space at Riverdale Park Day on Saturday, October 7, with no fee required. For profit businesses can arrange for space at a fee of $15 per table. For an application, call the town office at 301-927-6381.

Asian Tiger - Our wet summer has expanded the population of the Asian Tiger mosquito. Residents are reminded to continue to empty bird baths, children's pools, and any item in your yard, small or large, that contains water. This is the primary way to combat these fiercely-biting pests by limiting their population growth.

Maryland Cooperative Extension Service - Town gardeners can receive helpful answers to their garden questions from the Extension Service by calling 1-800-342-2507, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. For general information, check out their web site at http://www.agnr.umd.edu/users/pgcounty

Condolences - Mr. Forrester Raymond, a long time resident of Ravenswood Road died in August. Sympathy is extended to his family.
