Each February, the Mayor recognizes residents who have made important contributions to the town. Following are outstanding residents for the year 2000. Gerald King of Sheridan Street, teaches art at Prince George's Community College. Mr. King has painted the town clock and railway station at the Town Center, the mural at Route One and a number of views of Riversdale. (Photo by Gerard Kiernan) Rudy Childs, owner of Spero's Video at Town Center, has donated his time and services creating a video at the Veterans Monument at the 1999 and 2000 ceremonies. He is shown here with his wife, Laurie. Linda Brewer of Madison Street is a volunteer teacher with the Prince George's County Literacy Council. Mrs. Brewer works with adult students. Alan Thompson of Sheridan Street created computer-generated town maps, the detail disk for the town seal and serves as webmaster for the town's web site.
