Veterans Monument Dedication Ceremony At 11:00 a.m., November 11, the Riverdale Park Veterans Monument was dedicated before more than 100 persons who attended the ceremony at Town Center. Col. Joseph Davis of the 354th Civil Affairs Brigade gave the keynote address expressing gratitude for the honor the monument bestowed to members of the military services. Rev. Maurice O'Connell of the Church of St. Bernard, in blessing the monument, recognized the sacrifices of thousands of veterans and their families in preserving our country's freedom. Mayor Ferguson stated that the monument was the town's expression of recognition to all veterans. An Honor Guard from the 354th Civil Affairs Brigade presented the colors and members of the Order of the Arrow, Boy Scouts of America, unveiled the monument. The Veterans Monument located on Lafayette Ave. at Town Center. (Additional photographs are shown on page 6.) Residents made a significant contribution to the dedication program--Joe Kelly was the Master of Ceremonies, Gordon Brigham performed the National Anthem and Anne-Marie and Carolyn Badders sang God Bless America at the closing. |
