A Fitting TributeOn November 11, at 11:00 a.m., a ceremony giving recognition to all veterans of military service was held at the monument at Town Center. Organized by the Veterans Monument Committee, an estimated 100 residents attended the event. Marian Bailey of Queensbury Road presented the keynote address. Elizabeth Reedy of Oglethorpe Street, whose brother, an Army soldier, was killed in Germany during World War II and Iceil Larson of Tuckerman Street, widow of an Army veteran, presented the wreath. Joe Kelly of Tuckerman Street served as Master of Ceremonies and Carolyn and Anne-Marie Badders of Nicholson Street, were vocalists during the program. The support of the Mayor and Council, Veterans Committee and residents gave a fitting tribute to the men and women who have served and are serving our country today.
