Holiday Pickup
On Monday, September 1, 2003, the Riverdale Park Public Works Department will be closed for the Labor Day holiday. Garbage pickup for the entire town will be on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 and yard waste pickup for the entire town will be on Wednesday, September 3, 2003.
Keep Our Town Beautiful
Please sweep or remove grass clippings and weeds from sidewalks, curbs and gutters when mowing lawns or trimming weeds near the sidewalks or streets. It is against the town code to cause any material of any kind to be scattered, dropped, etc. upon any street, alley,sidewalk, gutter, roadway or public place within the town. Keeping these areas clean allows for the easy flow of water along the gutters and keeps our town beautiful.
Getting Rid of Mosquitoes
You can reduce mosquito annoyance by eliminating sites around the outside of your home that serve as a habitat for mosquito larvae. As little as one-half of an inch of water in a discarded tin can will support dozens of mosquitoes. Remember to clean your roof gutters and corrugated downspout drainpipes, flush bird baths and containers under potted plants twice a week, properly dispose of used tires (The Public Works Department will pickup tires for a small fee.), turnover wading pools, wheelbarrows, pails and any other object that holds water, including items stored under decks and porches, and drain water from tarps and grill covers.
