Following is a summary of council actions taken at the September 7 regular and September 14 and 23 special legislative sessions. Absences, abstentions and opposing votes are noted.

Regular Legislative Session September 7 (Councilmember Romero absent)

1. Approved request for zoning change - corner of Powhatan Road and Kenilworth Avenue - owner: Michael Darden, M.D. (Ward 6)

2. Approved improvements for Riverdale Road from Taylor Road to Lafayette Avenue for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for project year 26 (PY-26).

3. Approved amendment to Agreement between the town and the Boys and Girls Club for lease of building on 51st Avenue.

4. Approved technical correction to town code amendment enacted on August 5 that all references to fire department remain as Riverdale Fire Department.

Special Legislative Session September 14 (Councilmember Herman absent)

1. Approved contract services for development of Veterans Monument not to exceed $33,000.

2. Approved engineering services of Gilford & Chase for CDBG PY-23 (54th Avenue to Quesada Road), PY-24 (Harrison Avenue), and PY-25 (Riverdale Road from Taylor Road to Kenilworth Avenue).

3. Approved closing of Riverdale Road from east side of 48th Avenue to west side of 49th Avenue on October 2 for Riverdale Park day activities.

Special Legislative Session September 23 (Councilmember Romero absent)

1. Approved Y2K contingency plan.

2. Approved contract with Gilford & Chase for engineering services on additional projects to be selected under town street improvement program.

3. Approved fee proposal of Stottler & Starm for architectural design services for town hall improvement project.
